One of the largest Polish energy companies – Energa SA has become the title sponsor of the Gdańsk marathon, which will return to the streets of the city on April 6, 2025 after a two-year break. During a press conference at Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk, with the participation of the mayor of Gdańsk Aleksandra Dulkiewicz and the president of the management board of Energa SA – Sławomir Staszak, the route and details of the accompanying events were presented.
Energa Gdańsk Marathon 2025 will be held under the slogan “Run in the city of freedom!”. Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk will be the starting and finishing point of the race, and the route will lead past the most important and interesting places on the city map.
– I am happy to see the return of the royal distance to Gdańsk and I am very glad that the event is gaining such a reliable partner. This is an excellent example of corporate social responsibility. I would like to thank the president of Energa and I hope that this will be a long-term cooperation. We all want this to be a cyclical event, I keep my fingers crossed for the president on the marathon route – I will definitely be rooting for him – said the mayor of Gdańsk Aleksandra Dulkiewicz.
– We want to promote the city of Gdańsk as a space conducive to a healthy lifestyle and physical activity. The marathon is the culmination of many months of preparations, but the accompanying events are equally important to us: competitions for children, a 5 km run and a relay race. The route of the Gdańsk marathon is exceptionally interesting and attractive. It presents the diversity of the city, leading through its most characteristic and symbolic points – from our amber stadium Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk, through the European Solidarity Centre to the Old and Main Town. It is a unique journey through the history and present of Gdańsk – emphasized President Dulkiewicz.
In addition to the competition on the royal distance of 42 km and 195 meters, during the April running festival in Pomerania you will be able to take part in the competition of 4-person relay teams, in a 5-kilometer run and the Energa Junior Gdańsk Marathon at distances adapted to the age of the participants.
– Cooperation with the Gdańsk Marathon fits perfectly into our campaign this year “Energa turns on”, which not only promotes sports, but also contributes to the activation of the local community and the promotion of sports culture. The values shaped during the preparations for the marathon – perseverance, determination, systematicity – are also reflected in the business culture. As a company from Gdańsk, we want to actively participate in the life of the city, promoting positive initiatives and co-creating a friendly environment for residents – said the president of the board of Energa SA Sławomir Staszak.
– I am writing the event into my running calendar with satisfaction. I am in the process of preparations and I can’t wait to meet all the participants at the start. I gratefully accept the starting package with number 1 – it is an incredible distinction and a dream come true for every marathon runner. However, taking advantage of the opportunity, I decided to donate this honorable number for auction as part of the upcoming finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity – added president Staszak.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE START AND VOLUNTEERING?
– You can register for the start only via the panel on the website www.gdanskmaraton.com. So far, almost 1,400 participants have signed up, which makes us very happy and shows that the running community has been waiting for the marathon to return to Gdańsk. If someone is determined to start, I encourage you to register now – until the end of January, the entry fee is PLN 229, and it will increase later – informs Adam Greczyło from Energy Events, director of Gdańsk Marathon 2025.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING SUPPORT
The organizers of Gdańsk Marathon 2025 have prepared a free, 12-week program “”Brooks, Be Ready!”. The training is led by Marek Jaroszewski, winner of the Houston Marathon, together with a team of experienced trainers. The program includes comprehensive theoretical and practical preparation for covering the marathon distance. You can join at any time by registering on the race website.

HISTORY AND STATISTICS
The first Gdańsk Marathon took place in 2015. In the six editions so far, over 11,000 people have completed the race. The record attendance was recorded in 2017, when 2,375 competitors reached the finish line. The undisputed dominator of the Gdańsk Marathon is Rafał Czarnecki, who has triumphed three times (2017, 2018, 2019) and is also the current record holder of the route (2:23:14). Among women, the best result belongs to Lidia Czarnecka, who in 2019 beat the time of 2:49:05. Since the third edition of the event, four-person marathon relay teams have been introduced to the competition, which are very popular among runners.
